What can your child gain from our sessions?

Every single child that we meet is different, and each child will take away something different from our sessions.

Some of the skills we have seen develop during the sessions are:

Social skills:

Turn taking

Observing and learning from other children

                                                                           Listening and responding to others

 Early literacy skills

Descriptive language acquisition- sticky, squashy, hard, smooth, blue, red, cold etc

Names of objects

Actions and verbs - pour, mix, shake, stir, drip etc

Speaking and listening skills

Early/emergent writing- making shapes in different materials

Early numeracy skills:

Comparing volumes in containers

Shape recognition

Sorting different materials based on their properties

Recognising and naming colours

Mathematical vocabulary- more, less, increase, decrease etc

Science/ technology:

Exploration and discovery

Experimenting- hypothesising and evaluating

Combining materials

Exploring properties of materials

Changing properties

Measuring, mixing, pouring

Do children feel like they are busy learning and developing all of these skills?  Absolutely not! 'Play is a child's work' (Jean Piaget) and children learn best when they feel safe, secure and through play.
